If you have a rock speaker in your backyard, pool, patio, they should serve you unconditionally and equally well. However, if there is any trouble in voice quality or has stopped producing sound at all, there is something fishy. But don’t worry, here in this article, I’ll explain all the nitty-gritty of blowing a speaker. To develop a solid understanding of the subject, read this article to the end.

How to Check if a Speaker is Blown?

Usually, people use the term blowing speaker if their speakers are not sounding well or stopped sounding at all. But how to know the speaker is blown; party scheduled tonight, and you got to know your speakers are blown. You’ll surely be going to face embarrassment. So to avoid this, let’s start to learn how to tell if a speaker is blown.

How to Test if Speaker is Blown-in 5 Easy Steps?

    • Snags in Sound
    • Sub Standard Voice Quality
    • Cone Vibration lacking
    • Producing No Voice
    • Physically Torn Out

So, these are the five primary symptoms (Test to find) of blowing out a speaker. Let’s dive into details to get to know them the better way.

    1) Snags in Sound

If your speaker is working fine, and all of a sudden you feel something is going wrong with the sound, and if the sound pauses, and again plays, or if it is producing weird, unpleasant sound, that is not comfortable for your ears, it means, your speaker is all set to blow out.

It is the very first stage; you need to check it out; if the wire is connected blamelessly, and there is no problem with your Bluetooth, you are not out of range while the music is playing on the speaker. But, on the other hand, if all goes well, then it is undoubtedly the problem of the inner system of the speaker.

It means your speaker is having symptoms of blowing out, and you need to get it repaired as soon as possible, or else it can go to the extent of irreparable damage. The earlier you will diagnose the symptom, the easier it will be to cure it.

    2) Sub Standard Voice Quality

If you have a great speaker in your backyard, and it makes your parties more lively and enchanted, but over time, you feel that its voice is not as soothing as it was before.

If the sound is harsh, a smooth track is playing, all of a sudden, a glitch occurs, and the sound pitch goes down or up; it means there is some technical problem with your speaker.

An excellent speaker should take good care of your ear’s health; if it is not doing so and annoying your ears by substandard voice quality, you need to get it fixed at the earliest possible.

Moreover, if you are aware of how to tell if a speaker is blown, pause! Look, this is how the speaker tells you that I am blowing out. Keep a sharp ear, and do not let a single problem with the voice go unobserved.

    3) Cone Vibration lacking

When you change the volume, bass, and pitch, the cone of a speaker moves sharply; this vibration helps create sound. And if it is not hurrying, it means the con is not getting power; you need to check the cable and other components.

If there is any malfunction, find out, fix that out immediately. Or else your speaker will tell you how to know if a speaker is blown.

    4) Producing No Voice At All

If your speaker stops producing sound and hears any musical voice, you need to check your electric wires and other energy power sources. Because most probably, you are having a problem of electric charge behind this problem.

Sometimes, the speaker is on, and you’re enjoying your favorite track on that, all of a sudden, electricity goes down, and your speaker gets off when you turn your light on and try to play your speaker, and it doesn’t go smoothly. So, what will you do now?

First of all, you need to check the voltage, and the wire is all ok. If there is no problem with these, and your speaker is not producing voice, it means your speaker is blown out. And you need to get it fixed or replace it.

    5) Physically Torn Out

If you see that your speaker is physically torn out, if it’s minor, get it fixed at the earliest possible before it gets worse. But if it has gone too far, and there is no other option than to replace it, go for that. Because physically torn-out speakers can play havoc with your health, your life even. It can anytime burst and can harm you severely.

So, to avoid so, you need to keep your speaker in due conservation while using them. You should frequently check them out, is everything I’m with their bodies, is the electric charge is fair enough, the wire is in good health, etc.

So, this is how you get to know that your speaker is blown out, and I’ll tell you the reasons for blowing out a speaker.

Reasons for Blowing Out A Speaker

If you want to know if your speaker was blown out or not, first you need to know the symptoms that we have discussed above, and now I’ll tell you the reasons behind blowing out a speaker. 3 factors for blowing out a speaker are:

    • Abused Volume & Equalization Settings
    • Mismatched of Speaker
    • Volume Control Malfunction

    1) Abused Volume and Equalization Settings

Usually, because of lack of knowledge about the speaker, and its settings, we set up the bass, and pitch higher, and lower the middle frequencies, and when we turn the soaker on, the sound goes so high, and that is enough to blow the cone of your woofer.

So, to avoid such mistakes, you need to keep the settings moderate and not set the volume higher before the speaker gets on. Then, after turning it on, you can make changes in volume and equalization as fits in the scenario.

    2) Mismatched Pair of Speaker and Amplifier

When setting your sound system up, you need to be careful because if you set it in underwear or overpower, both cases will have consequences. In any case, heat problems occur, and it leads to the destruction of the coil. And your speaker goes down, and it stops working at all.

So, always try to fix the speaker according to the amplifier’s power, create a good match, and enjoy the music you love to listen to without any rupture. Or else you’ll have to gauge how to tell if a speaker is blown.

    3) Volume Control Malfunction

One of the most frequent reasons for blowing out a speaker is the volume control malfunction. Whenever you higher up the volume, change the bass and pitch but do not create a well-balanced match between all these; resultantly, the woofer’s cone blows out.

Also, never turn your speaker on with the highest volume setting; it can distort the speaker within no time. So, always pay attention to the volume control while setting it up to enjoy your speaker parties.

As I have been in the speakers’ industry for more than a decade, I have come across blowing out speakers many times. Initially, I was never able to gauge the blowing out of a speaker, but now, I can confidently point out the significant glitches you can face with your speaker and how to overcome all those. Here, in this article, I have explained every single thing you need to keep in mind while playing speakers. Usually, we keep rock speakers outdoor in our lawn, garden, poolside, backyard to enjoy parties, BBQ, and family gathering events, which are not safe in moisture, rain, and wild wind. Therefore, we should cover all the components carefully and ensure the speakers are safe enough to defend against any potential threat. Moreover, if you keep all the points discussed above in due attention, you can save yourself from repair charges and your speaker blowing out.
